Model
200A Lantern
Rebuild
Completed April 2009
I acquired
this lantern in March 2009 from an eBay auction. I selected this
model as representative of the type I used when I began camping
with the Boy Scouts in early '60's.
The
lantern was not operational when I got it. There was some rust on
the frame and scratches on the fount so I did a complete overhaul.
The
lantern was completely disassembled and cleaned in a citric acid
bath. The fount stripped and repainted; the generator, valve packing,
leather pump cup and mantle were replaced. The filler cap was updated
to the new model for safety (the original is still used for display).
The
lantern burns beautifully now, another piece of history back in
service. |
