Another
eBay purchase, this 1969 "Big Hat" is the same year and
model as one I had back in college.
The
lantern arrived with a broken globe. There was rust on the frame,
scratches on the fount lots of dirty brass!
The
lantern was completely disassembled and cleaned in a citric acid
bath. The fount stripped and repainted; the generator, valve packing,
leather pump cup and mantles were replaced. The filler cap was updated
to the new model for safety (the original is still used for display).
A new decal finished it off.
This
was my second rebuild and it burns great! |
